How to Transfer a Car Title in Oklahoma City

How to Transfer a Car Title in Oklahoma City

Transferring ownership of a vehicle is an important process that has specific requirements depending on the state. In Oklahoma, the government agency in charge of vehicle titling and registration starting January 1, 2023 is Service Oklahoma (SOK), which is a division of the Office of Management and Enterprise Services. Previously, it was the Oklahoma Tax Commission, specifically its Motor Vehicle Division, that took care of the process. The team at Eskridge Chevrolet in Guthrie, Oklahoma, has written this guide to help you understand the process and its requirements. What Is a Vehicle Title? A vehicle title is an official document that serves as proof of the legal owner of a vehicle. The state issues it when you purchase a vehicle, and you must update it when you transfer the vehicle's ownership. It lists important information about the vehicle, including its vehicle identification number (VIN), year of manufacture, make and model, and other pertinent details. It also contains information about the vehicle's current owner and any liens on it. A title is different from a registration, which is a certificate showing that the car is allowed to operate on public roads and that the owner has paid the applicable taxes and fees. And while a title is only updated when the vehicle's ownership is transferred, you should renew a registration every year or two, depending on the state. When is a Vehicle Title Transfer Necessary? Transferring a car title is important whenever the ownership of the vehicle changes. This ensures that the new owner can legally register and operate the vehicle and is up to date with all the applicable taxes, fees, and insurance requirements. It also protects both the buyer and the seller from any legal liabilities that may ensue from a transaction gone wrong. Here are the most common instances when a title transfer may be necessary: When you buy or sell a vehicle. When you inherit a vehicle. When you donate or gift a car. When you move to a different state. When the registered owner passes away. When the name on the title needs changing. When the lien holder on the title needs changing. How To Transfer a Vehicle Title in Oklahoma The steps for transferring a vehicle title in Oklahoma can vary slightly depending on the reason for the transfer and the details of the transaction. Generally, though, here are the steps to follow: Gather the necessary documents and information: This often includes the car title, a valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and other information such as the odometer reading and VIN. You may need to allot time to have certain documents signed and notarized, fill out forms, and have the vehicle inspected. Proceed to a SOK or licensed operator location: There are more than 200 locations you can visit statewide for vehicle title and registration transactions. If you're in Guthrie, there's a Tag Agency along South Division Street that can process a title transfer. Submit the documents: When presenting your documents, make sure to keep copies of these and any receipts for fees you pay. These are useful for your records. Pay the necessary fees: These usually include an ownership transfer fee of $17. If there's a lien on the title, a processing fee of $10 (in-state) or $13 (out-of-state) may apply. Take receipt of your car title: Typically, SOK issues vehicle titles within 30 days. If you didn't purchase a vehicle from a dealer, you'll receive the title in the mail. Requirements for Transfer of a Vehicle Titled in Oklahoma If you're transferring ownership of a car titled in Oklahoma, these are the items you need to take with you to your chosen SOK or licensed operator location: Certificate of title that's notarized and properly assigned. Current vehicle registration. Valid driver's license (for individuals) or Federal Employer ID or FEI number for other entities, such as businesses. Verification of liability insurance. Lien release if the vehicle is subject to a lien. Completed Form 729, or Odometer Disclosure Statement, for vehicles of model year 2011 and newer. Completed Form 722-1, or Declaration of Vehicle Purchase Price, or a bill of sale, purchase contract, or purchase price documentation. Requirements for an Out-of-State Vehicle Title Transfer If you're transferring a car titled in another state to Oklahoma, the process may also include registering the vehicle. This means you'll need to bring the car to an SOK or licensed operator location to verify its VIN and mileage. You may also require the following items: Out-of-state certificate of title. Valid driver's license. Proof of insurance for the vehicle in Oklahoma. Completed Form 701-6, or Application for Oklahoma Certificate of Title for a Vehicle, Trailer, or Manufactured Home. Tips When Transferring a Vehicle Title in Oklahoma Here are some tips to keep in mind when you're transferring a vehicle title in Oklahoma: Understand the Process Even if you're purchasing a new car and the dealer is handling the transfer, it's helpful to familiarize yourself with the process so you understand what to expect. At Eskridge Chevrolet, we make things easier by handling the paperwork for you and ensuring a smooth transfer of the title when you buy a vehicle from us. Do Your Research To Streamline the Process Find out what documents you require and make sure you have them ready. Gather information about the vehicle you're transferring, such as the VIN, the odometer reading, and the lien holder, if there is one. This'll help you complete the forms quickly and accurately. Complete the Title Transfer on Time In Oklahoma, you must complete the application and issuance of a title within 30 days of obtaining ownership of a vehicle. Ensure that all the documents required are complete and accurate to prevent any delay in the process. Failing to transfer the title within the allotted time may result in penalties and fines, so it's important to be mindful of this information. Transferring a car title in Oklahoma can be a straightforward and easy process with the right information and preparation. If you need help or have any questions about the process, you can fill out our contact form. Questions to Ask When Buying a Used Car

Questions to Ask When Buying a Used Car

Purchasing a used vehicle can come with many benefits, including a cheaper price tag and a lower depreciation rate. Even with those benefits, it's still important to take some other factors into consideration so you can feel confident in your investment. Whether you plan to purchase a pre-owned vehicle from a dealership or a private seller, here are 10 questions to ask when buying a used car to help you through the process. How Old Is the Car? More than likely, the car's age is one of the first factors you'll consider when shopping for a used vehicle. It's important to know how old the car is so you can estimate its current value. According to Kelley Blue Book, most vehicles depreciate by 20% within the first year and 60% within the first five years, though it depends on the make and model. Research the value of the car online before you go to the dealership or meet with a private seller. Knowing this information, you may be able to negotiate the price of the car. How Many Miles Does the Vehicle Have? In addition to age, the car's mileage provides information about its use and value. If a used car has low mileage, it's likely worth more, and vice versa. It can also make a difference if previous owners used the car more for city or highway driving. City driving, which usually involves bumpier roads, lower speeds, and more idling, can affect the vehicle's braking and suspension. It's worth asking about the car's driving history to help you make an informed decision. Does the Car Come With a Warranty? While many people associate warranties with new cars, the truth is that many used cars may still be under a manufacturer's warranty. In addition, dealerships may sell certified pre-owned vehicles, which usually come with additional protection. For example, at Eskridge Chevrolet, our Chevrolet certified pre-owned vehicles come with a one-year, 12,000-mile limited warranty and an extended powertrain warranty. This type of warranty can provide extra peace of mind when purchasing a used car. Does the Car Have Visible Exterior Damage? Take some time to inspect the vehicle for visible dings, scratches, or dents. While you may be able to live with minor blemishes, major damages can indicate structural problems that could result in costly repairs. Some areas to check out while inspecting the vehicle include: Paint scratches or areas of rust. Windshield chips or cracks. Dents in the wheels. Worn or cracked tires. Foggy or cracked headlights or taillights. How Does the Interior Look? Once you've inspected the outside, take a close look at the car's interior, since that's where you'll spend most of your time. Sniff around for any strange odors, like smoke or mildew. Check the upholstery for obvious tears or stains. While you're in the car, turn it on so you can test the heating, air conditioning, and audio system. Don't forget to look in the trunk for signs of water damage or mold. You know yourself best, so ask whether you can handle the imperfections you may find inside a used car. Has the Vehicle Been Involved in Any Accidents? A used car that's been in a minor accident or two likely won't have lasting damage. A history of major accidents may be a sign that you'll be paying for repairs well into the future. Make sure you ask about the vehicle's history so you know whether it's had previous damage and repairs. You can always ask to see a vehicle history report, which will provide this information. Most dealerships will give you this report, and private sellers can get one from places like Carfax. Can I Take the Car for a Test Drive? You wouldn't buy a new car without taking it for a test drive, so do the same when purchasing a used vehicle. Pay attention to how the car drives, including its braking, responsiveness, and handling. Even with all the information you now have about the vehicle, a test drive will give you the greatest sense of whether you'll be happy driving it on your daily commute in Guthrie, Oklahoma. If a private seller refuses to let you drive the car, it's probably a sign to keep looking. Does the Car Come With Additional Perks? Even when buying used, a new car is a serious investment, so it's worth asking if it comes with additional perks. Private sellers may have outfitted the car with accessories they'll include in the sale. At a dealership, you may get even more benefits with your used car. At Eskridge Chevrolet, we offer a range of perks when you purchase a certified pre-owned Chevrolet, including 24/7 roadside assistance, complimentary maintenance, and a satellite radio subscription. How Does the Car Affect My Insurance Premium? Purchasing a new car, even a used one, may affect the cost of your auto insurance. In addition to the cost of the vehicle, consider this expense so you can stay within your budget. For example, purchasing a much newer vehicle than the one you currently drive may cause your premium to go up. Before you buy a used car, contact your insurance company for a quote so you know what to expect. What Type of Financing Is Available? One benefit of buying a used car at a dealership is the ease of financing. Unless you plan to pay for the used car in cash, a dealership can work with you to find financing options within your budget. Many dealerships, including Eskridge Chevrolet, will even work with buyers who have bad credit or no credit to help them secure financing. At a dealership, you may also be able to trade in your current vehicle as a down payment toward the new car. Find a Quality Used Car in Guthrie, Oklahoma At Eskridge Chevrolet, we take the guesswork out of buying a used car. When you purchase a pre-owned vehicle from us, you can feel confident in its condition and value. Most Reliable Chevy Models

Most Reliable Chevy Models

In 1911, Louis Chevrolet and William Durant founded the Chevrolet Motor Company in Detroit, Michigan. They wanted to create a car company delivering affordable vehicles for all purposes. Chevrolet has gone on to manufacture some of the market's most popular cars, trucks, and SUVs. Under the iconic bow-tie emblem, you'll recognize the race-inspired performance and style of the Corvette with a glance. Likewise, the rugged, do-it-all workhorse Silverado makes its presence known from the job site to backwoods and even on the boulevard. Of course, you'll also see a lineup of SUVs to suit any budget or lifestyle. From the compact, agile Trax to the full-sized, luxuriously appointed Suburban and half a dozen more between. We wanted to determine which Chevy models scored well in the reliability department. So we asked our vehicle experts to put together a list of the most reliable vehicles from Chevrolet. Highest-Rated Large Chevrolet SUVs According to J.D. Power, the Chevrolet Tahoe ranked number one in the Large SUV category for 2023. The Tahoe scored 84/100 based on hundreds of thousands of independent reviews from verified owners. The reviews feature four categories: Quality and Reliability, Driving Experience, Resale Value, and Dealership Experience. The results say the Tahoe has fewer problems, performs better, depreciates slower, and owners enjoy interacting with the dealerships more than any other large SUV manufactured today. In addition, actual Tahoe owners find the vehicle easy to maneuver in and out of traffic and in tight quarters. They also confirm that the Tahoe has a better economy than other large SUVs and consider the voice recognition capability intuitive without glitches. Chevrolet’s Suburban holds third place in the Large SUV category. The customer reviews highlight the Suburban’s above-average economy and range. Drivers also state that the Suburban's ability to carry cargo and passengers ranks much higher than other full-size SUVs. In addition, owners agree that getting into and out of the third-row seats is much easier than the competition. Highest-Rated Midsize Chevrolet SUVs The Chevrolet Blazer came in second in J.D. Power's annual ratings for midsize SUVs. Chevy re-introduced the Blazer in 2019 with universal aplomb. The new Blazer incorporates modern style, rugged capability, premium comfort, and the latest technology. As a result, drivers love the Blazer, as evidenced by an impressive 89/100 score. Most Blazer owners rave about the in-vehicle tech, comfort, and power. J.D. Power has an Upper Midsize SUV category as well. The Chevrolet Traverse tied for first place in this segment with an 84/100 score. Traverse's most popular attributes include its simple-to-operate navigation system, easy entry and egress, and exceptional economy. Highest-Rated Compact Chevrolet SUVs The compact SUV segment remains one of the most contested categories in the industry. Nearly every manufacturer has at least one vehicle in this famous market. J.D. Power ranked the Chevrolet Equinox number two with a score of 85 points. In the Midsize Sporty Car category, the Chevy Camaro scored 85/100, enough to take first place. Customers cite the ability to configure the Camaro with various options and packages as one of its best attributes. Drivers also love its spirited driving dynamics and its muscle car style. Highest-Rated Chevrolet Midsize Cars Chevrolet stands out in another crowded segment. Scoring 82/100, the Chevrolet Malibu grabbed the number one spot in J.D. Power's Midsize Car category. Chevy Equinox vs. GMC Terrain

Chevy Equinox vs. GMC Terrain

If you're in the market for a small SUV with high-tech features and premium amenities, you may be considering either the 2023 Chevrolet Equinox or the 2023 GMC Terrain. The two SUVs share similar powertrains and interior features, but they also have some differences that may help you decide which one is the right vehicle for your family. Review this one-stop guide for a full comparison of the Chevy Equinox versus the GMC Terrain. Price Both small SUVs have comparable price tags, but you can save some money when you choose the 2023 Chevy Equinox. It has a starting MSRP of $26,600 for the base model. This trim comes with plenty of standard features, such as wireless smartphone integration and the Chevy Safety Assist suite. As you add more feature in higher trims, the price for the Equinox increases accordingly. Comparatively, the base Terrain has a starting MSRP of $29,900. Similar to the Equinox, the 2023 Terrain comes standard with many features, including the GMC Pro Safety system. Engine Specifications Underneath the hood of a Chevy Equinox or GMC Terrain, you'll find similar powertrains. Every 2023 Equinox comes equipped with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, delivering 175 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque. The engine pairs with a six-speed automatic transmission for smooth shifting. Front-wheel drive comes standard, but all-wheel drive is available on all four Equinox trims. Similarly, the 2023 GMC Terrain comes with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine. It generates the same power and torque as the Equinox. The main difference is that the Terrain's engine mates with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The Terrain comes with standard front-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive is standard on the upper-level AT4 and Denali trims. For maximum efficiency, you may opt for the 2023 Chevy Equinox. This SUV achieves an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 26 mpg city and 31 mpg highway, allowing you to travel farther between gas stops. In comparison, the 2023 GMC Terrain has an EPA-estimated rating of 24 mpg city and 29 mpg highway. Exterior Design Though the 2023 Chevy Equinox and GMC Terrain have similar powertrains, they differ in their exterior appearances. The Equinox makes a stunning entrance with its smooth, curved lines. LED headlights and daytime running lights provide enhanced visibility, no matter the time of day. The Equinox rides on 17-inch aluminum wheels with all-season tires, or you can choose between 18- or 19-inch wheels for added flair. The GMC Terrain features an exterior appearance more similar to a pickup truck, with sharp lines and corners. Like the Equinox, it comes with LED headlights and 17-inch aluminum wheels, though larger 18- or 19-inch wheels are available. The wheels pair with all-season blackwall tires. Interior Space and Design Both the Chevy Equinox and GMC Terrain are small SUVs with seating for five passengers. You'll get slightly more interior space when you drive the Equinox. This SUV has a passenger volume of 103.5 cubic feet, compared with 103.2 cubic feet of volume in the Terrain. Head, shoulder, and legroom are nearly identical in both the front and back seats of the Equinox and Terrain. Whether you're planning a road trip with friends or shuttling little ones to school or practice, everyone will feel comfortable when riding in either SUV. Inside the 2023 Equinox, you'll enjoy some premium comfort and convenience features while driving in Guthrie, Oklahoma. The Chevy SUV comes standard with premium cloth seats, or you can choose the Equinox Premier to get perforated leather-appointed upholstery. Heated front seats and dual-zone automatic climate control come standard on the RS and Premier trims to keep you and your passengers comfortable in all seasons. Besides the base trim, every Equinox comes with an eight-way power driver's seat with power lumbar control to enhance your driving experience. Like the Equinox, the 2023 Terrain comes standard with cloth seats, and you can get leather-appointed upholstery on upper trims. Heated front seats and dual-zone climate control are available but not standard on the base trim. A power driver's seat with lumbar control comes standard on every Terrain but the SLE trim. Cargo Space The 2023 Equinox and Terrain have similar sizes, but the Equinox offers slightly more cargo space in the back. With the rear seats upright, the Equinox has a cargo volume of 29.9 cubic feet. In the back seat, you can fold down the 60/40-split seats flat to get 63.9 cubic feet of space. Whether you're transporting gear, luggage, or equipment, you'll have more than enough room in the Equinox. On some Equinox models, a programmable power liftgate with a memory height function allows you to access the cargo area with the press of a button. In the 2023 GMC Terrain, you'll have 29.6 cubic feet of cargo volume behind the rear seats and 63.3 cubic feet with the seats folded down. A hands-free power liftgate comes standard on some Terrain models, but not all. Entertainment and Technology Features The all-new Chevy Equinox features state-of-the-art technology so you and your passengers can stay connected and entertained. The Equinox comes with a 7-inch infotainment touch screen with Bluetooth audio streaming. A larger 8-inch screen is standard in the Equinox Premier and available for other trims. Standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration means you can access your apps, music, or podcasts without having to plug in your phone. USB ports allow you to charge your devices when you're on the go, or you can opt for the Equinox Premier to get wireless charging. Like the Equinox, the GMC Terrain features a standard 7-inch touch screen with a larger 8-inch screen in some models. Leasing vs. Financing a Car

Leasing vs. Financing a Car

If you want to drive a new or pre-owned vehicle but don't want to pay for the entire car before you leave the lot, there are a few ways you can get behind the wheel. Two popular methods for drivers are leasing and financing. While both leasing and financing can allow you to drive off the lot in the car of your choice, they have unique benefits and might fit drivers with different needs. Here are some key benefits of leasing and financing, along with some tips to help you choose the option that's right for you. The Difference Between Leasing and Financing When a customer leases a car from a dealership, they pay to use the car for a lease period, like two or three years, and pay a monthly fee to the dealership or a third-party leasing company. Once the lease period is over, they can choose to renew the lease or return the car to the dealership. Customers who finance a car have an agreement where they pay the vehicle's cost, plus a finance charge, in monthly installments. When they pay off the entire amount, they own the car outright. Benefits of Leasing a Car Here are some reasons that many drivers choose to lease their cars from the dealership: Lower down payment: Since you're not buying the car, you can usually get a lease agreement with a low down payment, or no down payment at all. This lower amount might allow you to lease a newer or more expensive car than you'd otherwise be able to afford. Lower monthly payments: Usually, monthly lease payments for a certain car are lower than the driver would pay under a financing agreement since you're only paying to use the car. If you need a car for your commute or to run errands, then leasing can offer you a more affordable option for a new or almost-new vehicle. Flexibility to trade in: Lease agreements usually last between two and three years, and drivers can choose to renew them at the end of the term. This means that you can decide between staying in the same car and trying a different vehicle every two or three years. Benefits of Financing a Car Here are some benefits to financing a car purchase: Ownership: While financing a car usually involves a higher down payment and higher monthly charges than leasing, the money you pay the dealership goes towards purchasing the car, rather than just using it. Finance agreements usually have specific terms, like 72 or 84 months, in which you pay a standard amount each month, but you can pay more towards your car to own it sooner. No mileage limits: Car lease agreements usually have mileage limits, which impose a fine on drivers who put too many miles on the car. Because the goal of financing is for you to own the car, financing agreements don't include mileage limits, so can drive your car as much as you like during the financing period, even before you've finished paying for it. No damage charges: Along with mileage limits, car lease agreements often impose additional damage charges for drivers who get into accidents or who cause damage to the car in another way. When you finance a car, you're responsible for any damage you may cause to another vehicle, but you don't owe the dealership any additional money if the car experiences wear or damage. How To Choose Between Leasing and Financing Here are some steps you can take to choose between leasing and financing a car: Think about your average mileage: If you plan to use the car to drive long distances for a commute or other travel, then you might go over the mileage limits on a leased car. To avoid paying a fine, you might choose to finance your car purchase, so you can put as many miles on it as you want. Consider your needs: While leasing a car can be a good choice if you're using it to commute short distances, it might not be ideal for people who use their vehicles for off-roading or heavy work, since lease agreements often penalize wear and damage. If you need a new work truck or want an SUV for off-roading, financing might be a better option, since you won't have to pay additional fees for wear. Reflect on your future plans: Leasing a car can be a good plan if you're expecting to need a different car within a few years, while financing is an ideal option if you want to own the car for longer. For example, if you plan to start a family in a few years, you might choose to lease a sedan while you research the type of family car you want to own later. Use leasing to try different car types: Since leasing doesn't involve a long-term commitment, it can be a good choice for drivers who want to try a new type of car, like a sports car or a truck. Once you decide on the type of car that fits your lifestyle, you might choose to finance a purchase. Decide who will be driving the car: Leasing agreements often only allow the owner of the car to drive it during the lease period, unless the owner requests permission from the leasing company. If you plan to have multiple people drive your car, it might be better to purchase it through financing, so you'll have more control over who can drive it. Whether you're planning to lease or finance your next vehicle, the team at Eskridge Chevrolet is here to help. If you're looking for a short-term leasing opportunity, we offer a variety of lease deals for Chevrolet cars, trucks, and SUVs. What Does a Used Car Warranty Cover

What Does a Used Car Warranty Cover?

Are you considering purchasing one of our well-maintained used cars but want to know if it’s covered by a warranty before you make your decision? Perhaps you already have a pre-owned vehicle and you’re looking at your used car warranty options. Whatever your situation may be, it’s important to have a clear idea of the types of coverage on offer for your used crossover or truck because choosing the right type of warranty can help you save money on auto repair bills. Here’s a quick overview of the types of used car protection plans on offer. What Is a Used Car Warranty? A used car warranty can refer to several things. First of all, it may mean that a used car still has some of its factory warranty left when a person buys it from a pre-owned vehicle showroom. A used car warranty may also be a certified pre-owned (CPO) vehicle protection plan. Finally, a used car warranty can describe an extended warranty that you purchase from a dealership or other provider to prolong the coverage once the factory warranty expires. Here at Eskridge Chevrolet, we offer Oklahoma City drivers a range of extended warranty options. We’ve got a good selection of CPO Chevy vehicles in our showroom that are sold with a used vehicle warranty. In addition, some of our used cars are still covered by their factory warranties. All of these warranties can help cover the cost of repairing defective parts or poor workmanship when you have the work done at our Chevy service center. However, each type of warranty offers a different level of coverage for your vehicle. What Types of Factory Warranties Are There? All new vehicles sold at dealerships come with a factory warranty. In many cases, this warranty consists of a three-year, 36,000-mile limited warranty and a five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty. The limited warranty provides coverage for malfunctioning parts and damage caused by poor workmanship on your vehicle’s major mechanical and technology systems. The powertrain warranty includes coverage for your car’s core systems, such as the engine, transmission, and driving axle. Some other factory warranties provide coverage for more specific aspects of your vehicle. A corrosion warranty provides protection against rust damage to your vehicle’s bodywork or parts for a fixed period of time. If you purchase a new electric vehicle, its battery will also be covered with a battery warranty. Keep in mind that warranties typically exclude routine maintenance from their coverage. This means that oil changes, tire rotations, fluid refills, and similar tasks aren’t covered. There are exceptions to this rule, including in some CPO programs that offer several complimentary maintenance appointments. What Is a CPO Warranty? Many automakers run a CPO program, which is designed to guarantee higher quality standards among the used cars sold by dealerships. To be considered a CPO vehicle, a used car needs to pass an extensive multi-point inspection conducted by a trained mechanic, who will carry out any repairs or reconditioning to make sure the vehicle is in good condition. The manufacturer backs its CPO vehicles with a warranty, which varies depending on the terms of the manufacturer’s CPO program. For example, Chevy’s CPO program allows you to purchase a used Silverado 1500 or a pre-owned Travis from our Oklahoma City showroom. To qualify, the vehicle has to be no more than 6 model years old and have no more than 75,000 miles on the odometer. If the candidate car meets these requirements, it goes through a 172-point inspection performed by one of our technicians. Chevy also backs all its CPO vehicles with a six-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty and a 12-month, 12,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. The powertrain warranty runs from the original in-service date. This means that if your CPO Equinox is 3 years of age, you’d have another three years of powertrain coverage. The bumper-to-bumper warranty runs from the date you buy the CPO vehicle and is added to any remaining limited factory warranty. Benefits of Extended Warranties If your car or SUV doesn’t have a CPO warranty and its factory warranty has expired, you can still get coverage by purchasing an extended warranty. These plans allow you to choose how long you want the coverage to last and the extent of the protection. For instance, you could choose to purchase a one-year bumper-to-bumper extended warranty or a three-year powertrain extended warranty. One of the main advantages of purchasing this protection is that you could save yourself the trouble of paying an expensive repair bill as your vehicle gets older. Another benefit of an extended warranty is that it can be transferred to a new owner in the event you sell your car. You may find that you can get a better price when selling your used vehicle if it has a warranty, since potential buyers will recognize the added protection it offers them. Why You Should Rely on Eskridge Chevrolet for Your Extended Warranty Whether you’re looking to purchase one of our CPO vehicles or an extended warranty, you can depend on Eskridge Chevrolet to provide you with coverage that’s easy to understand and that gives you high-quality repairs. If you’re looking for a professional service center to carry out work covered by your factory warranty or extended warranty, our Chevy-certified mechanics have the expertise and equipment to get the job done. If you’re buying a used car from our showroom with one of our competitive auto financing deals, our finance team can agree on a loan package with you that includes the additional cost of an extended warranty. This’ll allow you to cover the cost of purchasing your vehicle and the warranty in one easy-to-manage payment plan. Chevy Silverado vs. Colorado

Chevy Silverado vs. Colorado

Chevrolet is a popular truck manufacturer because it offers a diverse range of vehicles that cater to different types of drivers. The Silverado 1500 is Chevrolet's well-known full-size pickup, while the Colorado is a smaller truck that's ideal for lighter tasks. Are you curious whether the Silverado 1500 or Colorado is the right pickup for you? Our team of truck experts here at Eskridge Chevrolet in Oklahoma City has put together a head-to-head guide to make your choice a whole lot easier. Chevrolet Colorado vs. Silverado 1500 Engine and Efficiency The Chevrolet Silverado has four engine options, while the Colorado has three. The Silverado's engines provide considerably higher horsepower outputs, with the largest V-8 churning out 420 horsepower. This compares to the Colorado's optional V-6, which puts out 308 horsepower. However, you should keep in mind that the Colorado is a much lighter truck than the Silverado 1500. As a result, its acceleration is just as good as the Silverado 1500, and its handling is even better, especially on busy roads. If fuel efficiency is your priority, both trucks are at their most fuel-efficient with the optional turbodiesel engine under the hood. The Colorado's 181-horsepower turbodiesel achieves 20 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. Edging ahead, the Silverado 1500's 277-horsepower turbodiesel manages 23 mpg on city roads and 31 mpg on the highway. The base gas engines are slightly less efficient, with the Colorado achieving 25 mpg on the highway and the Silverado getting 22 mpg. Colorado vs. Silverado Towing and Off-Roading There's no denying that if towing heavy loads is your main reason for buying a truck, the Silverado 1500 will be your clear favorite. That said, if you plan on towing a modest-sized camper or hauling equipment for a home DIY project, the Colorado's decent towing and hauling capacities will do just fine. The Silverado's top towing capacity is 13,300 pounds. To access this impressive figure, you'll need to choose either the turbodiesel or 6.2-liter V-8 engine and the Max Trailering Package. The Colorado's turbodiesel engine enables it to tow a maximum of 7,700 pounds, which is among the highest values in the compact pickup class. Both pickups are capable off-roaders, but the Colorado has the edge due to its superior maneuverability on narrow trails. The best Colorado trim for off-roading adventures is the ZR2, which features standard four-wheel drive, a two-speed transfer case, fully locking front and rear differentials, and an off-road suspension. The Silverado 1500 also has a ZR2 trim, which includes a 2-inch suspension lift, heavy-duty skid plates, and mud-terrain tires. Silverado 1500 vs. Colorado Cargo Capacity You can choose between two cargo beds in the Colorado: a longer one measuring 6 feet 2 inches and a shorter option of 5 feet 2 inches. If you need more space to haul items to your job site, the Silverado 1500 has three bed lengths for you to choose from. The largest cargo bed measures 8 feet 2 inches in length. This truck's standard bed comes in at 6 feet 7 inches, while the shortest bed is 5 feet 10 inches. The longest bed is ideal if you want the Silverado's highest payload capacity. Colorado vs. Silverado Passenger Capacity Your choice of cargo bed may be affected by the cab style you want since not all the cab options in Chevrolet trucks are available with all the cargo bed choices. In the Silverado, the longest cargo bed is only available with the Regular Cab, which has a single bench seat that can accommodate three people. If you plan on using your truck to carry passengers regularly, you'll have to choose between the Double Cab and Crew Cab, which can only be paired with the two shorter bed lengths. The Double Cab offers 35 inches of rear-seat legroom, while the Crew Cab has a roomy 43 inches to relax in. Both these cabs can seat five or six people. The Colorado offers the choice between the Extended Cab, which seats four people and has half-size rear doors, and the Crew Cab, which has seating for five and full-size rear doors. The Crew Cab can be paired with either bed option, while the Extended Cab is only available with the longer cargo bed. Chevrolet Infotainment and Safety Tech Both these trucks have comparable standard infotainment systems, including a 7-inch screen and six-speaker stereo. They also boast Bluetooth connectivity and smartphone compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. However, the Silverado offers a broader range of optional upgrades than the Colorado. Chevrolet's full-size pickup gives you the option of a 13.4-inch screen, wireless device charging, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The Colorado is equipped with an 8-inch screen, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and wireless device charging. The Colorado and Silverado offer several key safety features, such as forward collision warning, cruise control, and parking sensors. However, the Silverado has a longer list of optional add-ons, including useful features such as a surround-view parking camera, blind-spot monitoring, and a head-up display. Silverado vs. Colorado Pricing and Trims The Colorado is a more attractive proposition than the Silverado 1500 if you're shopping for a truck on a budget. The smaller Chevrolet's MSRP is around $25,000 compared to $34,700 for the Silverado. A similar trend is evident as you move up through the trims, with the top Silverado costing more than $60,000, while the range-topping Colorado comes in at around $41,000. If you're willing to pay more, the Silverado offers a greater variety of technology and stronger towing capabilities. This truck comes in eight trims, including the rugged Trail Boss and ZR2 and the upscale LTZ and High Country. The Colorado is offered in four trims, including the off-roading ZR2 and Z71. We hope that this comparison has made choosing between the Chevrolet Colorado and Silverado 1500 easier.
