Purchasing a vehicle is a major financial decision. It’s important to take the time to research and choose the one that best fits your needs and is within your budget. If you’re in the market for a car, it’s a good idea to consider our inventory of certified pre-owned (CPO) vehicles. Find out what these are and how the Chevrolet CPO program can help you find the right vehicle for you.

What Is a CPO Vehicle?

A CPO vehicle is a late-model vehicle that has gone through a stringent inspection process conducted by expert technicians. It must meet certain criteria, including mileage and history, to be awarded certification. It must also pass a rigorous inspection that typically includes a detailed interior and exterior check along with a review of all the mechanical components, such as brakes, tires, suspension, steering, and safety features.

How It Differs From a Used Car

The primary difference between a CPO vehicle and a regular used car is that the CPO vehicle has undergone a comprehensive inspection and reconditioning to ensure that it meets the quality standards set by the manufacturer. It also typically comes with an extended warranty and other benefits from the manufacturer and dealership. Special financing options, which may not be available with regular used cars, may also be offered with CPO vehicles.

The Chevrolet CPO Program

The Chevrolet CPO program is designed to give customers the peace of mind that comes with buying a high-quality pre-owned vehicle. All the CPO vehicles we offer at Eskridge Chevrolet passed a 172-point inspection that covers every major system and component of the vehicle. To give you a better idea of what this inspection entails, here’s a breakdown of what our Chevrolet technicians perform:

  • Vehicle History Investigation: This includes checking for safety recalls, warranty problems, and aftermarket modifications. The technicians also check if the vehicle is still covered by the original factory warranty and has a history report.
  • Maintenance: The technicians perform a full inspection of components that may require servicing or replacement, such as the vehicle’s filters, fluids, and battery, as determined by manufacturer guidelines. They then perform the necessary maintenance and replacements.
  • Checking of Tires and Brake Pads: This involves checking the tire tread depth and brake pad thickness and ensuring all tires and pads meet the minimum requirements. All four tires must be of the same size and brand.
  • Detailing: The technicians ensure that the vehicle looks its best. This involves washing and waxing the exterior, reconditioning surface scratches, removing foreign odors, and cleaning the interior.
  • Road Test: A test drive allows technicians to check various components of the vehicle, including its engine and transmission, as well as its heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system. They also inspect its steering and stability.
  • Inspection of Functional, Engine, and Under-Vehicle Components: This involves verifying the operation and integrity of various safety features, as well as components affecting performance, such as the engine, suspension, drivetrain, and brakes. Technicians service these components to manufacturer recommendations.
  • Review of Interior and Exterior Items: Apart from detailing, technicians also inspect the condition of the vehicle’s interior and exterior. They then replace or repair items that aren’t up to standard.

There are also requirements a pre-owned vehicle must meet before it can be certified. These include a maximum mileage of 75,000 miles, as well as possession of a clean title and a satisfactory vehicle history report. It’s also crucial that the vehicle is less than six years old to be considered for certification.

Benefits of Getting a CPO Vehicle From Eskridge Chevrolet

A CPO vehicle from our dealership is an ideal purchase if you’re looking for a reliable, well-maintained car that’s ready to be driven for a long time to come. Aside from quality assurance, here are the other benefits of purchasing a CPO vehicle:

Extended Powertrain Limited Warranty

Chevrolet, GMC, and Buick CPO vehicles come with an extended powertrain limited warranty. This covers repairs to the engine, transmission, and drive systems that address issues with workmanship or materials. Standard warranties of this type last for 60,000 miles or five years, but with CPO vehicles, the duration is extended to six years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. This also includes courtesy transportation and roadside assistance.

Extended Bumper-to-Bumper Limited Warranty

The standard bumper-to-bumper limited warranty that comes with new vehicles protects against workmanship or material defects for 36,000 miles or three years, whichever comes first. But if you purchase a CPO vehicle, the coverage is extended by 12,000 miles or 12 months. This is on top of the remaining original new car warranty and includes towing services.

Scheduled Maintenance Program

Your purchase of a CPO vehicle comes with two maintenance visits that you can take advantage of within the first two years or before reaching 24,000 miles after its delivery. Maintenance services include multi-point inspections, oil changes, and tire rotations. Our highly trained technicians in our service center can help keep your vehicle in good condition.

OnStar and SiriusXM Trial Subscriptions

A trial subscription to OnStar and SiriusXM is also bundled with your CPO vehicle purchase. OnStar is a service with various features that make driving safer and more convenient. It includes Advanced Diagnostics, Automatic Crash Response, and Turn-by-Turn Navigation. SiriusXM provides a variety of entertainment options through its satellite radio and online app.

The free one-month OnStar and three-month SiriusXM trial subscriptions are available to CPO vehicles equipped with the appropriate hardware. The features that you can enjoy from both services may also be limited by the vehicle model, model year, trim level, and location.
