Chevy Bolt EUV Breakdown
Since SUVs and electric vehicles are very popular with automotive buyers nowadays, it’s only natural that an electric SUV is likely to be a hit. The Chevrolet Bold EUV is the ideal choice for drivers who want an affordable and economical vehicle that’s highly versatile.
Two Trims To Choose From
The 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV is available in two trims: LT and Premier. Both are powered by an electric motor that can produce up to 200 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque, with energy from a 65 kWh lithium-ion battery. Here are some of the features and characteristics of each trim.
LT Trim
The LT is the Bolt EUV’s base version, but it’s still packed with plenty of useful and exciting features. Some of them are the 17-inch aluminum wheels, remote keyless entry and vehicle start, automatic climate control, a large 10.2-inch touch-screen infotainment system, Bluetooth connectivity for two devices simultaneously, and wireless compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, satellite radio, and many others. It also features three optional packages:
- Driver Confidence package: It adds parking sensors and a blind-spot warning system with rear cross-traffic warning, which issues an alert when another vehicle is in the Bolt’s blind spot while changing lanes or going in reverse.
- Comfort package: It adds heated front and rear seats, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a power-adjustable front seat.
- Convenience package: It adds machined-finished 17-inch aluminum wheels, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, leather upholstery, and ventilated front seats.
Premier Trim
The Bolt EUV’s additional trim has a look and a feel that is a little more lavish, with features like chrome and gloss-back exterior elements, elegant leather upholstery, automatic windshield wipers, and ventilated front seats. It also adds multiple tech features, like a surround-view camera system that gives the driver a view from above to help navigate tight parking situations and a digital rearview mirror that shows the back of the vehicle even if the cargo area is full. This trim has two additional packages:
- Sun & Sound package: It adds a spectacular panoramic sunroof, a navigation system, and a premium Bose sound system.
- Super Cruise package: It adds an emergency braking system specially designed to brake from high speeds and a hands-free adaptive cruise control feature.
There’s also a feature bundle called the Redline Edition package, which is available for both trims and includes 17-inch gloss black wheels, red accents on the side mirrors and wheels, and other back and red exterior badges.
Agile and Fun To Drive
Although the Bolt can make its way on less-than-perfect terrains, it can also easily make its way through city traffic and on the freeway. It can reach a speed of 60 miles per hour from a standstill in only 7.1 seconds, and its regenerative braking system allows it to capture braking energy, which is then used to recharge its battery.
Excellent Safety Features
Safety is paramount when judging a modern vehicle. The Chevy Bolt EUV has multiple high-tech active safety features to help drivers notice and avoid potential road incidents. Some useful driver aids are:
- Forward collision mitigation system: It detects an imminent collision, issues a warning, and even hits the brakes to help stop the collision if it doesn’t sense any input from the driver.
- Lane-departure mitigation: It senses if the Bolt EUV drifts from its original lane without the turn signal being activated and automatically steers it back into its original position.
- Blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert: It issues an alert if it senses a vehicle in the Bolt EUV’s blind spot while changing lanes or reversing.
- Adaptive cruise control: It maintains a specific distance between the Bolt EUV and the car in front, adapting to the latter’s changes in speed.
- Teen Driver system: It allows the vehicle’s adult owner to set specific limitations to the vehicle, making it more suitable for inexperienced teen drivers.
- Super Cruise: It’s a more advanced version of the adaptive cruise control, which only functions on approved highways and automatically steers the wheel to follow the road.
Great Range and Utility
Any discussion on fully electric vehicles will have the range as one of the first topics of conversation. The Chevy Bolt EUV has a range of around 247 miles, which should be more than enough for most drives. It’s also reasonably quick to charge, thanks to its dual-level charge cord and 11 kW onboard charger, which provide a maximum charging rate of 55 KW.
It’s also a perfect vehicle for families, thanks to its 16.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the seats and 56.9 cubic feet of space with the rear seats folded down. There are also multiple smaller cargo spaces all over the cabin.
Spacious and Comfortable Interior
The Chevy Bolt EUV’s interior provides excellent space and comfort, even on long drives. The seats offer the right balance between being soft and firm, its climate control maintains a constant cabin temperature regardless of the weather, and the insulation system keeps most road and wind noises outside. It also has a well-adjusted suspension system that seamlessly cancels out most minor bumps in the road.
The interior is also thoughtfully designed to blend elegance and ease of use. Most functions can be accessed via the touch-screen interface, but there are also physical buttons and knobs for often-used functions, which help keep the driver’s eyes firmly on the road while accessing them. The digital instrument panel is easy to configure, so you can set it to display the information you find most useful. It’s also easy to get in and out of the Bolt EUV, thanks to the wide-opening doors.
The Chevy Bolt EUV is an enhanced version of the Bolt EV, with more interior space, comfort, and better features. It fits multiple categories of drivers, as it blends the utility of a crossover SUV with an electric vehicle’s acceleration and fuel economy.
